Two unmissable nights celebrating the classic album's 50th birthday will see Genesis, Badly Drawn Boy and Miles Kane pay tribute at Liverpool Pier Head this September

A talent packed lineup has been announced for The White Album at 50, a two night concert series celebrating the Beatles iconic record at Liverpool Pier Head on Sat 8 and Sun 9 Sep. Tickets are on sale now.

Declared by many fans as the Beatles' finest album it seems only fitting to give it the birthday bash it deserves as it hits the big 5-0. It seems the organisers think so too as the meticulously curated concerts will transform Liverpool's iconic waterfront into a haven for Beatles fans. Over two nights the 30 song collection will be performed in full by a host of musicians accompanied by a full band. All profits from the events will go to charities Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and The Teenage Cancer Trust.

The current list of confirmed artists includes Genesis with Mike and the Mechanics star Mike Rutherford, Hugh Cornwell, Glen Matlock and Badly Drawn Boy, alongside Liverpool's own The Christians, China Crisis, Space, Thomas Lang, Miles Kane and Connie Lush.

To top off the already outstanding musical lineup, the show's greatest hits finale will be delivered by Prague International Orchestra led by world renowned conductor Varhan. The finale will extend the show by an hour and the orchestra, alongside Sense of Sound choir, will play every participating artist's favourite Beatles track in full.

Ahead of the concerts, Mike Rutherford remarked: 'The White Album has never been performed as a live piece like this before, and with the world class musicians and guest vocalists we have gathered together we plan to deliver an incredible musical and visual experience for all Beatles fans to savour. Both Nordoff Robbins and Teenage Cancer Trust deliver life-changing work every day and these concerts are a fitting tribute to their amazing results.'

The White Album at 50 will take place in a purpose built outdoor arena at Liverpool's the Pier Head on Sat 8 Sept and Sun 9 Sep. Tickets for the events are on sale now.
