Cirque du Soleil: Toruk

Cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft make up the immersive production inspired by James Cameron's Avatar

Since launching 1984, Cirque du Soleil has expanded in a wide range of creative endeavors with shows that never fail to leave audience members awestruck. Cirque du Soleil: Toruk – The First Flight is the latest production to come to the UK and will run from Wed 26–Sun 30 Jun at London's O2 Arena. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Fri 16 Nov.

For Cirque du Soleil: Toruk – The First Flight the theatrical giants sought inspiration from James Cameron's 2009 blockbuster hit Avatar. The tale acts as a prequel to the film, set thousands of years before any humans ever set foot in the mythical world of Pandora.

Working with Cameron and the original team behind the film, Toruk developed into a fusion of acrobatics, cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score to capture the signature style of Pandora.

Speaking of the production James Cameron said, 'Avatar is really meant to be a celebration of human motion and human emotion and Cirque is able to capture that absolutely perfectly, because it's all about human performance and physicality. It makes you feel alive to watch these performers'.

Since opening in late 2015 the show has sold out venues in Asia and North American. The UK dates come as part of the huge European tour which calls in Germany, Italy and Spain ahead next year's London debut.
