Leave your English class knowledge of the Shakespearean classic at the door, there's a new adaptation in town. & Juliet is the new West End musical spectacular that is female focused and fun-loving, swapping Juliet's famous ending for a new beginning. The show will run at Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End from Sat 2 Nov. Presale tickets are available now. General sale begins on Mon 11 Feb.
The new musical is the brainchild of David West Read (Netflix's Schitt's Creek) as directed by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights). Starring as Juliet is stage regular Miriam-Teak Lee who takes on the role following performances in the original London cast of Hamilton and On the Town. Further casting announcements are to be made later in the year.
& Juliet explores what may have happened if Juliet didn't die at the end of Shakespeare's original play. Choreography comes from Jennifer Weber as performers dance to music from Max Martin, who has written songs for singers including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Westlife, Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.
Juliet heads to Paris with her best friends to try to recover from the death of her soul mate. This timely and timeless tale details Juliet's journey with the help of pop tracks like Britney's '...Baby One More Time', Backstreet Boys' 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)' and The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face' and much more.
