Back to the Future: The Musical debuted at Manchester Opera House in February 2020 and is set to transfer to London's West End next year.
The film's original creators Bob Gale (Back to the Future trilogy) and Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) adapted the iconic story for the musical. Direction comes from Tony Award-winner John Rando who leads the Tony and Olivier Award-winning creative team behind the show.
The new staged format of the 1985 sci-fi adventure classic features new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard. As an homage to the original film, additional songs 'The Power of Love' and 'Johnny B. Goode' are also included.
For those who don't know it, the story details the adventures of Marty McFly, who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by the iconic character, Doc (Dr Emmett Brown). Before Marty can return to 1985, he must make sure his high school-aged parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.
