Award-winning Scottish actor takes to the West End stage for all new production of Rostand's classic
Star of screen and stage James McAvoy has announced that he will star in a new production of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac. The production will run at the Playhouse Theatre in London's West End from Fri 6 Dec 2019– Sat 29th Feb 2020. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 8.30am on Tue 17 Sep.
The latest production of Rostand's classic has been freely adapted by writer Martin Crimp, with McAvoy taking to the stage as lead character Cyrano de Bergerac. Direction for the piece comes from Jamie Lloyd, who McAvoy has previously collaborated with on productions of Macbeth, The Ruling Class at Trafalgar Studios and Three Days of Rain.
The show details the story of Cyrano de Bergerac, a soldier who is notoriously fierce with a sword and even more so with a pen. Cyrano de Bergerac almost has it all but needs to overcome his biggest obstacle in order to win his true love Roxane. With the help of his masterful poetry, he attempts to alter the narcissistic society that comes between he and his love.
Cyrano de Bergerac runs at London's Playhouse Fri 6 Dec 2019– Sat 29th Feb 2020. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 8.30am on Tue 17 Sep.
