It's (almost) the most wonderful time of the year and more and more Christmas shows are being announced by the week. Despite the onset of winter's chill, the festive period is the perfect time to head out and enjoy some festive cheer. For those looking to take the whole family to a show this year, there are plenty of wonderful Christmas productions coming to Glasgow in 2019. From musicals to pantomimes, here's a list of the best kids Christmas shows in Glasgow.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical

It's everybody's favourite Christmas grump! Dr. Sueuss' most unlikeably likable character comes to Glasgow this November where he will discover there is more to Christmas than he thought. A magnificent set provides the perfect wintery backdrop for this joyful musical production based on the best-selling book.
The Grinch runs from Wed 13–Sat 16 Nov at the SEC Armadillo.

The Snowman

Based on Raymond Brigg's much-loved children's book and featuring Howard Blake's classic song 'Walking In The Air', this enchanting live show continues to thrill audiences year after year. One magical Christmas Eve a boy's snowman comes to life and the two take to the skies for an adventure during which they meet Father Christmas and his reindeer, dance with penguins and plenty more.
The Snowman runs from Wed 13–Sun 17 Nov 2019 at the Theatre Royal.

Elf: A Christmas Spectacular

The smash-hit Broadway musical based on the hit film starring Will Ferrell arrives in town this Christmas. Join Buddy the Elf on his journey from Santa's Grotto to New York where he searches for his father. Across three stages the show features a giant 30 foot-tall Christmas tree, a flying sleigh and stunt work from skilled performers. The show stars Coronation Street actress and singer Kym Marsh, EastEnders star Shaun Williamson (Barry Evans) and comedy actor Tam Ryan.
Elf: A Christmas Spectacular runs from Sat 14–Sun 15 Dec at The SSE Hydro.

Jack and The Beanstalk

No Christmas list would be complete without a pantomime! Jack and the Beanstalk starring Elaine C Smith and Johnny Mac, tells the tale of Jack and his family as they take a trip up the beanstalk to Cloudland where giants await. This family show features gigantic laughs, music, special effects, magic beans and bundles of audience participation.
Jack and The Beanstalk runs from Sat 30 Nov 2019–Sun 5 Jan 2020 at King's Theatre.

Pinocchio

Citizens Theatre, in association with Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, presents a vividly inventive production of this much-loved tale. The lovable wooden puppet Pinocchio is determined to be a real boy and embarks on an action-packed quest from the cobbled streets of his hometown to the dark woods, to the belly of a giant whale. Along the way he meets a host of colourful characters and learns the importance of telling the truth and finally discovers what it means to be human.
Pinocchio runs at Tramway from Sat 7 Dec 2019–Sat 4 Jan 2020.
