2019 comes to a close as Elf, The Snowman, Cinderella and The Snow Queen arrive in the capital
Christmas comes but once a year and with it a selection of smash-hit Christmas productions both touring and local to the UK's capital. Family-friendly shows coming to London in 2019 range from musical spectacular, reworked pantomimes and Childhood classics. Here's the best family Christmas shows to see in London this festive season.
The Snowman
Based on Raymond Brigg's much-loved children's book and featuring Howard Blake's classic song 'Walking In The Air', this enchanting live show continues to thrill audiences year after year. One magical Christmas Eve a boy's snowman comes to life and the two take to the skies for an adventure during which they meet Father Christmas and his reindeer, dance with penguins and plenty more.
The Snowman runs from Thu 21 Nov–Sun 5 Jan at the Peacock Theatre.
Cinderella
Lyric Theatre love to put on a panto every Christmas and this year bring Cinderella's world to the city. There will be glass slippers, a wicked stepmother, ugly stepsisters, pumpkins and mice as expected but this old tale will be told with Lyric Theatre's signature twists and turns worked in.
Cinderella runs from Sat 23 Nov–Sat 18 Jan 2020 at the Lyric Theatre.
Cinderella – The Rockin' Panto
It's the classic story of Cinderella with a musical twist! This pantomime party is suitable for all ages including hits like 'It's Raining Men', 'Downtown', 'Rock Around The Clock' and 'Shake A Tail Feather' among a long list of others to help tell the tale of Cinderella.

The Snow Queen
Hans Christian Andersen's beloved story of friendship, love and self-realisation has been adapted for the stage by Olivier Award-winning company Julie Clare Productions (Peter Pan). Join Gerda on her epic journey through the seasons to save her best friend Cei.
The Snow Queen runs from Wed 4 Dec–Sat 4 Jan at the Park Theatre.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
The star-studded panto of the 2019 festive season lands at the Palladium to retell the tale of Goldilocks' misadventures. Paul O'Grady, Julian Clary, Paul Zerdin, Nigel Havers, Gary Wilmot and Matt Baker take center stage in a show filled with riotous comedy routines, extraordinary special effects, hair-raising stunts and circus acts.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears runs from Sat 7 Dec–Sun 12 Jan at the London Palladium.
Nativity: The Musical
Adapted for the stage from the much-loved 2009 film this production is a sure-fire win for adults and kids and follows the story of a failed-actor-turned-primary-school-teacher who is given the task of directing the school's Nativity play. Celebrity stars include Sharon Osbourne, Danny and Dani Dyer, Rylan Clark-Neal and Simon Lipkin.
Nativity: The Musical runs from Wed 11–Sun 29 Dec at the Eventim Apollo.
Elf: A Christmas Spectacular
The smash-hit Broadway musical based on the hit film starring Will Ferrell arrives in town this Christmas. Join Buddy the Elf on his journey from Santa's Grotto to New York where he searches for his father. Across three stages the show features a giant 30 foot-tall Christmas tree, a flying sleigh and stunt work from skilled performers. The show stars Coronation Street actress and singer Kym Marsh, EastEnders star Shaun Williamson (Barry Evans) and comedy actor Tam Ryan.
Elf: A Christmas Spectacular runs from Sat 21 Dec–Sun 22 Dec at The SSE Arena in Wembley.
