The Kinks Musical: Sunny Afternoon to tour the UK in 2020, find out when tickets go on sale

Olivier Award-winning production heads to 15 cities from August

Sunny Afternoon the musical is set to tour the UK throughout 2020, taking the sounds of Ray Davies and the Kinks to 15 cities. The musical features music and lyrics by the Kinks founder and frontman Ray Davies, with a book by Joe Penhall and original story by Ray Davies.

The plot follows the early life of Ray Davies and his rise to fame with the Kinks who, back in the 60s, made waves on the music scene. As you'd expect, it's jam-packed with hits from the band like 'You Really Got Me', 'Waterloo Sunset', 'All Day and All of the Night' and 'Lola' among others. Director Edward Hall (Twelfth Night, Othello, Chariots of Fire) leads the production, with casting announcements to be announced at a later date.

The 2020 tour marks the show's second jaunt around the UK and kicks off on Fri 7 Aug at Manchester Opera House before shows in Bristol, Milton Keynes, Hull, Eastbourne, Sunderland, Blackpool, Brighton, Southend and more before a final stop at Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham between Tue 1–Sat 5 Dec 2020.
