Gateshead's National Trust property will host a Christmas light show throughout December

The 18th century Georgian gardens at Gibside Estate in Gateshead will become the backdrop for the brand new illumination event Ignite in 2020. Running on the grounds for the first time, the new after-dark experience will light up the gardens throughout December. Entry is permitted in 15-minute intervals and tickets for all Ignite 2020 dates are on sale now.

Visitors can enjoy Gibside after hours as they follow paths illuminated by lanterns, wander between flickering flames, and work their way through a 3/4 mile trail around the garden's majestic trees adorned with festive lights.

Is Ignite at Gibside 'COVID-safe'?

Families visiting Gibside can rest assured that measures are being put in place to keep everyone as safe as possible at this year's light show. The event is fully outdoors and the National Trust has organised a reduced capacity event to ensure minimal queuing times. The trial will be mapped out to manage visitor flow, sanitisation stations have been installed around the venue and payments will be cashless and must be made as contactless transactions or by chip-and-pin.

Ignite at Gibside, Newcastle runs from Fri 11 – Wed 30 Dec. Entrance is permitted in 15-minute intervals from 4.15pm–8pm (times vary per day). Tickets are on sale now.
