From Soft Cell to New Order, here are some of the hottest live events on sale this week
You wait for one 80s behemoth to play a live show, then three announce gigs all at once. With Soft Cell, New Order and The Psychedelic Furs all performing this year, you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to moody goths playing Moogs and strumming guitars.
The first week of August has also seen announcements from drill rappers, drum and bass superstars, top-tier comedians, and dyed in the wool rockers. For your delectation, here are the best live events on sale this week.
Peter Kay's Dance For Life
Observational comedy's kingpin Peter Kay is set to embark on a tour with his Dance For Life show across a host of UK arenas. With Kay as DJ, the show is a charity danceathon in which you can dress up and have a boogie to some of the Phoenix Nights and Car Share star's favourite tunes. After what feels like decades of life without clubbing, we can't think of any better way to let off some steam.

Soft Cell
Synth pop pervs of the 80s Soft Cell are making a glorious return with a 40th anniversary celebration of their debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret in shows across the UK. With tracks like 'Tainted Love', 'Sex Dwarf' and 'Seedy Films', expect this to be a voyeuristic look back at an album that helped shape modern pop music.

New Order
Speaking of 80s superstars, New Order have announced a one-off outdoor show at Piece Hall in Halifax this September. The band will be accompanied by Lonelady and DJ Tin Tin. They've been at the top of their game since their 2015 comeback album Music Complete, so expect this gig to be something special.

Frozen: The Musical
Elsa, Anna and Olaf are hitting London's West End with Frozen: The Musical. Opening its doors at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Friday 27 August, the show promises all the hits from the film alongside a number of future classics penned by the writers of 'Let It Go'.

The immersive theatre incarnation of The Great Gatsby is reopening its doors in London in September. Flapper outfits, overflowing champagne, amazing tunes – it's got everything you could ever want from a theatrical production of Fitzgerald's literary masterpiece.

Fred Again..
Multi-award winning producer Fred Again..'s debut album has been on repeat at List HQ for quite some time now, so we're delighted to see he'll be playing a one-off gig in London on Tuesday 7 September. If you love dance music with a hint of transcendent joy, this is the gig for you.

Drum and bass superstars Rudimental have announced a series of intimate gigs this August in support of their new album Ground Control. The band says, 'We are buzzing to be back playing live shows after nearly two years off the road. We can't wait to play some of our new records for the fans in such intimate spaces.'

Chilled out American rockers Dr Hook will tour the UK as part of their 50th anniversary celebration. Speaking of the uncertainties surrounding pandemic restrictions, singer Dennis Locorriere says, 'We've just stayed proactive and we've stayed positive. Everything is so uncertain, but we're not uncertain, we'll see you on the 50th anniversary tour next year! We hope you're all as excited about this news as we are!'

The Psychedelic Furs were one of the most entertaining post-rock acts in the 80s, and they've never quite lost their knack for ingenious songwriting.
