Coatbridge born boxer to battle unbeaten Namibian Julius Indongo for WBA and IBF world super-lightweight titles

Ricky Burns is one of only three British boxers to have won three world titles in different weight divisions, and the only from Scotland.

His dominant eighth-round stoppage against Michele di Rocco in Glasgow last May meant he had the vacant WBA super-lightweight title to add to his WBO super-featherweight and lightweight belts. He last entered the ring in October when he managed to successfully defend his WBA title with a points victory over Kiryl Relikh.

Later in the year, Julius Indongo took on the previously unbeaten Russian Eduard Troyanovsky, beating him with a 40-second first-round knockout, taking his IBF and IBO titles with him.

Many were shocked by the news but Burns has taken it as a challenge: 'It's a huge fight in the division and the kind of fights I need to be involved in at this stage of my career. There were other names talked about but I wanted the toughest, most dangerous fight out there. Indongo with his two belts was that man.'

Burns is set to take on Indongo on Sat 15 Apr on home soil at the SSE Hydro, Glasgow. The fight will play live on Sky Sports meaning those not lucky enough to snap up tickets can watch it from the comfort of their own, fight-free homes.

For those eager to be in the crowd, tickets will go on sale at midday on Tue 24 Jan with pre-sale on Sun 22 Jan for SSE Reward members. Prices range from £45.40 to £227 and are available on the SSE Hydro website. Scottish fighters Charlie Flynn and Joe Ham are expected to feature on the undercard.
