London's Piccadilly Theatre is set host the family musical Annie from Tue 23 May, starring writer and actor Miranda Hart of as the tyrannical orphanage owner Miss Hannigan, and directed by Nikolai Foster.

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, young Annie lives a hard knock life at Miss Hannigan's orphanage. Her luck takes a turn when she's chosen to spend a fairytale Christmas with famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. However, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie's search for her true family.

Miranda Hart is the writer and star of BBC comedy Miranda, other actor credits include TV series Call the Midwife and comedy film Spy. Annie the Musical is Hart's West End debut but she is already au fait with large, live audiences, having toured her My, What I Call, Live Show to arenas across the country in 2014. Previous Miss Hannigan's on stage and film have included Dorothy Loudon, Carol Burnett, Kathy Bates and Cameron Diaz.

Annie the Musical has previously won Tony Awards for its book and score, and features famous songs including 'It's The Hard-Knock Life', 'Easy Street' and 'Tomorrow'.

Miranda Hart plays Miss Hannigan at Piccadilly Theatre, London, from 5 Jun to 17 Sep 2017, with the run continuing until 6 Jan 2018. Tickets for Annie on sale now.
