'Next to Me' singer performs on the esplanade as part of her Long Live The Angels tour
Castle Concerts have announced that Aberdonian singer Emeli Sandé will perform at the capital's iconic structure on Thu 13 Jul. Over the years Edinburgh Castle has played host to international stars such as Rod Stewart, Blondie, Elton John, the Proclaimers, Leonard Cohen, Stereophonics, Sir Tom Jones and Pink.
Sandé initially made her mark as a songwriter in the UK urban scene for acts such as Wiley, Wretch 32 and Chip before becoming a sought-after writer for acts including Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Katy Perry. Her 2012 debut album Our Version Of Events was the biggest selling album of 2012, was certified 7x platinum and exceeded the Beatles' previous record by spending 63 consecutive weeks in the top 10.
As well as tracks from Our Version Of Events, Sandé will perform songs from her latest album, Long Live The Angels, which was released last November and includes singles 'Hurts' and 'Breathing Underwater'. The album achieved the biggest week one sales for a British female solo artist in 2016.
