Balladeer extraordinaire will play Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Sun 19 Nov

Engelbert Humperdinck has announced a special London show to celebrate 50 years in the entertainment industry, with presale tickets available Thu 18 May at 10am.

Humperdinck will play the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Sun 19 Nov.

The balladeer rose to prominence when his 1967 single 'Release Me' went straight to the top of the charts, keeping The Beatles from reaching Number 1 with 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.

It set the tone for an incredible career spanning half a century, with over 140 million records sold worldwide and a back catalogue that includes romantic ballads, movie theme songs, disco, rock, and even gospel music. Humperdinck even found the time to compete as the UK contestant in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, but even he couldn't bring home the crown. If Humperdinck can't, no one can folks.

The show at London's Theatre Royal follows the release of greatest hits album Engelbert Humperdinck: 50, which includes two brand new tracks as well as songs from a career that's spawned 64 gold records, 35 platinum albums, four Grammy nominations and a Golden Globe. Not bad eh?

Presale tickets for Engelbert Humperdinck go on sale Thu 18 May at 10am, general tickets go on sale Fri 19 May at 10am.
