Production comes to Duke of York Theatre after a sold-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre

Ian McKellen will star in King Lear on London's West End this year, with tickets on sale through Encore at 9am on Mon 12 Feb.

Following a sold-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Munby's critically acclaimed revival of Shakespeare's epic tragedy makes the transition to the West End in July, for a run of 100 performances.

With it's first known performance taking place in 1606, King Lear has emerged as one of the bard's most loved plays. Now, in 2017, the tale has been given another lease of life, with theatre legend McKellen playing the titular role. After a successful run at Chichester Festival Theatre it transfers to London.

Munby's explosive revival of King Lear sees the classic tale of power struggle revitalised for a modern audience. Don't miss it.

King Lear opens at London's Duke of York Theatre on Wed 11 Jul. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Mon 12 Feb.
