The renovated former Victorian baths that house Dovecot Studios can be found in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. The organisation was established in 1912, when the founding weavers were recruited from Merton Abbey in London. Today, Dovecot works to commission, collaborating with architects, interior designers, museum curators and private collectors as well as putting on exhibitions and going on tour. The studio’s weavers have put their extensive experience to good use on projects as diverse as Elizabeth Blackadder's Irises for a domestic interior and Frank Stella's design for a series of 12 tapestries for PepsiCo in New York.
Dovecot is a world-renowned tapestry studio in the heart of Edinburgh and an art gallery exploring contemporary art, craft and design. Established in 1912, Dovecot continues a century-long heritage of collaboration with international artists to make exceptional handwoven tapestries and gun-tufted rugs.
