There's been entertainment on the site since Elizabethan times, but the present New London Theatre dates back to 1973. The ample modernist building has hosted a variety of productions; Cats opened here in 1981, and stayed for the next 21 years. Since 2009 it's been the home of the National Theatre blockbuster War Horse.

There's an underground NCP car park adjacent to the theatre, and the nearest tube stations are Holborn (Piccadilly/Central) and Covent Garden (Piccadilly). There are bus stops nearby for routes 1, 59, 68, 134, 168, 171, 188, 243 and X68.
