As Bawtry's Arts venue, the Phoenix Theatre is home to Bawtry Dramatic Society, producing between three and four productions a year; the Young Players, who meet every Saturday morning and perform in around two productions a year; Bawtry Film Society, showing around 20 critically acclaimed British and foreign films a season; and regular music evenings.

The theatre, together with its coffee lounge and bar facilities, is also hired out for local community and school events and plays by touring companies.
