Royal Shakespeare Theatre
Home to the RSC, one of the world's best known theatre companies, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is located on the banks of the river Avon in Shakespeare's birth place, Stratford-upon-Avon. The theatre is housed in a grade II listed building, originally constructed in 1932, which underwent a three year transformation project before reopening in 2010. The main theatre has a Shakespearean thrust stage, extending out on 3 sides into the 1040 seater auditorium. The more intimate Swan Theatre, which shares front of house facilities with the main theatre, seats 450. Other facilities include the Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, the Riverside Cafe and several theatre bars, and the Theatre Tower offers great views of the surrounding area.
