Standing opposite Modern Two (formerly Dean Gallery), the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art One is fronted by the giant Landform sculpture by Charles Jencks, a stepped, serpentine mound reflected in three crescent-shaped pools of water. Inside the gallery, which has a striking Neo-classical façade that fits perfectly with Edinburgh’s ‘Athens of the North’ tag, are works by artists such as Picasso, Andy Warhol and Lucian Freud, in frequently changing displays. The gallery is a must-see venue for every modern & contemporary art lover. The popular gallery café more than doubles its capacity in summer months by setting up outdoor seating.
