The Rose Playhouse is a performance space by the site of an original Elizabethan theatre built in 1587. It presents a Shakespeare focused programme.
The site was re-opened in 1999, after the foundations of the original theatre were discovered in preparation for a new development, which was then halted. There are plans to continue to excavate a further part of the site.
