The Royal Observatory sits on top of Blackford Hill, south of Edinburgh’s city centre. Alongside the visitor centre, which allows the general public to use the Victorian telescope dome facilities, the site accommodates a university astronomy research group and an establishment of the UK Research Council. See the stars through the research centre’s magnificent copper domes at weekly astronomy evenings, as well as special one off events throughout the year.

The Royal Observatory sits on top of Blackford Hill, south of Edinburgh’s city centre. Alongside the Victorian buildings, telescope dome and library, this is a working science and research centre that is home to the UK Astronomy Technology Centre, Edinburgh University's Institute for Astronomy and the Higgs Centre for Innovation.
